It is the season of love, and what better way to celebrate than by loving yourself first?
Sometimes we get stuck in the busyness of our day-to-day lives. We're so focussed on everything around us; work, kids, relationships, you name it, that sometimes we forget the most vital thing out of all of this. Yourself.
Though it can be difficult sometimes, Self Love is essential. Rupi Kaur sums this up beautifully; "How you love yourself is how you teach others to love you."
That being said, here are some ways to help get you started on your Self Love journey.
Self love rituals:
Putting time aside for yourself is essential and is something that should be done more often. The following rituals are some of the things that us here at Yoga & Oils do to love ourselves.
Draw a warm bath, and as the tub is filling add:
A handful of Epsom salt
A handful of pink Himalayan salt
5-10 drops of our bath oil, or any oils you might have
Dried flowers (optional).
Place a few of your favourite crystals around the tub, scatter a few lit candles amongst them, and as you enter the bath keep the intention of loving yourself (not just simply washing) in mind. Cup water in your hands and let it slowly fall over and cleanse your crown, third eye, throat and heart chakras, then relax and enjoy.
Gratitude is a great practice to keep you in a state of appreciation for everything and everyone you have in your life, but often our gratitude practice is for things external to us. With this gratitude ritual, you're going to show the same amount of appreciation you have for others, for yourself:
Find a quite space, grab your favourite pen and journal and settle your mind
Grab any piece of aventurine you have to help shift you into a state of gratitude
Start writing down all of the things you love and are grateful for, about yourself
Time for Joy:
This one is simple but looks different to everyone. Do what brings you joy.
Go on a date with your loved one, or take yourself out
Go for a walk in nature
See a movie
Volunteer your time
Go for a coffee with friends/or on your own
Start a new hobby, or make time for a current one
Whatever it is just do it!
Crystals for Self Love
Some of our favourite crystals that we are drawn to when it comes to stepping into Self Love, and deeply embodying it are:
To ground ourselves in the energy of Self Love, we love to begin with Smoky Quartz. This powerful healer allows the light to shine in and the negativity to wash away, releasing any limiting beliefs that you have around your worthiness to love yourself unconditionally.
Smoky Quartz is a powerful healer and helps you to attune yourself to the light instead of being consumed by life and any external influences.
We love to pair our Smoky Quartz with a whole lot of Strawberry happiness. This crystal is constantly overflowing with Self Love energies, and helps you in your search for gratitude, bringing forth the ability to see all the beauty that surrounds us and is within us. Strawberry Quartz gently guides you on your journey to discovering your true purpose and stepping into your uniqueness.
Once we are grounded, have released our limiting beliefs, stepped into Self Love and gratitude, we then pick up our Rhodochrosite. This beauty reminds us of the mantra Aham Prema, which is like singing a love letter to your soul. This stone is deeply connected to the goddess Quan Yin. She is a Master Healer for the heart, and encourages selflessness, non-judgemental, unconditional love and compassion towards the self.
We then finish with Labradorite. This is a beautiful stone of transformation, and when used together with this combination of crystals it empowers you to step forward with strength into your new found Self Love, allowing that love to run deeply through every cell of your being.
For us, when we wear labradorite or have it close by, every time she flashes her blue hues it is a reminder of all that you have honoured and promised yourself.
Self-love is such a beautiful and necessary ritual to bring into your everyday life.
With practice, this love radiates into our work, relationships and our mental, physical and emotional well-being.
How you love yourself is how you teach others to love you
With happiness and a whole lot of love
